IN THE BEGINNING
God has always been the Beginning. We call Him God – the Creator of all things seen and unseen. Genesis 1:1 says: “in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth”. It tells us that God is the Beginning. The Psalmist in Psalm 136 attributes God to all creation.
The heavenly bodies, including the planetary systems and the galaxies, are all God’s hand made. The sky made up of the sun that displays its power during the day, the silver moon that captures the night with its making day and night; the far, far twinkling stars and the limitless space with its cloudy pillars that give us rains distributed across the face of the earth, often accompanied by great lightning and thunderstorms showing His Supremacy, are all God’s creations.
The earth, with the oceans covering about three quarters of its surface, volumes of water that no man can measure, with teeming different creatures that swim from shore to shore. These wonders are all God’s creations. The beauty of the earth with mountains and valleys; the forests and deserts, the different types of bushes and trees, the beautiful flowers that adorn them, the fruits they bear; the meandering rivers and streams, the waterfalls, the lakes, ponds, and swamps. The animal kingdom – the carnivores, omnivores and herbivores, with life, moving and reproducing according to their kinds; the birds that sing and fly, the reptiles and insects – they are all fed and kept everyday by the Creator – God. The gold, silver, diamonds, salt, etc are all His. He knew we would need oil and He planted it beneath the earth for our machinery. He gave us seeds to plant for food – different types of foods and meat for our survival; the seasons that recur every year and never miss their cycle; the air we breathe in every second – all supplied by God. WHAT A MIGHTY GOD OF CREATION!
On top of His creation is Man. He made man in His own image, male and female, for procreation and to fill the earth. And this God entrusted to man, all that He had made – to till, care and keep.
Who is this God? He tells us about Himself in the book He has given – the Scriptures, to all mankind. This God who spoke to our ancient fathers through the prophets, recorded in His Book, has revealed Himself through His only Son, Jesus Christ: Heb. 1:1 – 3. All things seen and unseen were created by His Son – the Word which became flesh and dwelt among us. Through His Son salvation now flows from the Father to mankind. The Creator God beckons man to Himself through His Son Jesus Christ to whom He vested all things, including the redemption of man from sin. And this Creator God, will one day call man to account to Him for what He entrusted to his (man’s) care. What will man’s answer be?
When one day you depart this earth and stand before this Creator God, what will your answer be?
